When Miranda came to us to have her gown made, she described the location in
great detail. Her surroundings were very inspiring - a mansion built in the
late 1800s set on gorgeous grounds. Her ceremony was held outdoors followed
by tea on the lawn. Later dinner was served in the grand hall of the
mansion.

Miranda brought us Godey's Ladies Book for source inspiration. We
blended aspects of several gowns, a sleeve from one, the neckline from
another, the skirt shape from yet another. We then chose fabric and lace,
much of which needed to be hand dyed to match the color of the silk. We also
dyed the faux pearls that we hand stitched onto the front piece of the
bodice. Her gown consists of two skirts and a bodice. It is worn over a
camisole, corset and petticoat, all created for Miranda to give her the
appropriate silhouette.
The top skirt was removed after the ceremony so she
could move freely about the grounds. I believe she and her new husband
(whose waistcoat we made) even played some lawn tennis!
